Fulbright Information Sessions

The University of Pittsburgh provides Fulbright applicants with a substantial number of resources through the application process. Applicants have the benefit of consulting with the Fulbright Program Advisor (FPA) while drafting their essays, and eventually having their essays reviewed by a panel of University faculty members with specialization in their proposed field of research or study. In exchange for this assistance, applicants must agree to adhere to a series of deadlines mandated by the Fulbright Program and established by the University of Pittsburgh.

The first step in this process is to attend a Fulbright information session. Check our calendar to see if any Fulbright info sessions are scheduled. If there are not, or if you cannot make any of the scheduled meetings, please contact Pitt's FPA to set up an appointment to discuss the general information you need to begin your application.

Prospective applicants must fill out and submit a campus registration form. These are available at meetings with the FPA, but applicants can also download a copy by clicking here. They are bundled with other documents relevant to the application process.

After taking these first steps, applicants should be aware of the following important dates:

May 1: Fulbright applications become avaiable online; potential applicants should register at this time.

June 1: Campus Registration form is due. Download the campus registration form here.

June 12: First drafts of personal statements and project proposals due.

July 12: Second drafts of personal statements and project proposals due.

Aug 12: Third drafts of personal statements and project proposals due.

Sept 09: Full application due. This includes the Fulbright application, personal statement, project proposal, letters of recommendation, letters of affiliation, transcripts, and any other applicable forms (e.g. language evaluation, language self-assessment, critical language enhancement award supplement, and/or arts supplementary material).

Oct 07: Final application due.

The October 07th final deadline is slightly earlier than official Fulbright deadline listed on Fulbright's website. This discrepancy is a result of the procedures that need to be completed on your behalf by the University before final submission. All applicants submitting their application through the University must observe this deadline; it is one of the conditions of applying through the university.

If you have any questions about this process, please do not hesitate to e-mail us.
